Some of us hide behind a mask portraying someone we are not. Always trying to keep from revealing our true self for fear of not being accepted. There is a mindset that tells us to behave this way and to conduct our lives that way so as to fit in. But for many it does not wear well with them. Being someone you are not is both unhealthy and stifling. Stress will rob you of your strength and holding back the real you will limit what you could have done.
Yes, for the conditional love of someone we play the fool to everyone. We continue to conform that we may not stand out and be alone. If we would but quiet our soul and listen for a voice we may find that we can be true to ourselves and be loved. It was for love Christ came and for your heart He died, we should be true to ourselves by receiving His love inside. It is the answer to the question you've asked yourself all your life, "Who could love the real me?"
It is as simple as the song most of us learned as a child, "Jesus loves me this I know for the Bible tells me so. Little ones to Him belong, they are weak but He is strong. Yes Jesus loves me..." For those of us who do not follow the well worn path but take the road less traveled we are comforted on this journey by knowing that if we stay true to ourselves and to Him who calls us one day we will find this road will lead us to a place where we will forever be loved not for who we portray but for who we really are.
Isn't that the truth, Pamela "Engaging in the Word". People truly want honesty and truth. Not fake!
